Inclusivity by design in Virtual Learning Environments Webinar Recording

ALT recently hosted a webinar as part of  our work with the Further Higher Education Digital Accessibility Working Group (FHEDAWG). In this webinar Ben Watson and Daniel Clark of the University of Kent discussion accessibility and inclusivity in relation to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Virtual Learning Environments. The webinar was facilitated by Elizabeth Charles, Trustee of ALT, and Maren Deepwell, chief executive. A recording of this session is available from the event page.

OER19 Conference - Recentering Open

Next ALT Assembly online meeting, 7 May 2019, 12:30 - 13:30

The Assembly is the overarching Member committee advising the ALT Board of Trustees. The Assembly is chaired by the President of ALT, Martin Weller, and provides greater representation for Members and in particular Member groups, in the governance of the Association. The next online  meeting of the ALT Assembly is 07 May 2019 at 12:30 BST. The event page has more information about the next meeting and instructions on how to participate.

ALT East of England Members Group meeting: Gamification - practice and pedagogy, 15 May 2019, 11:00 -  16:00

Come and learn about gamification and discuss best practice at the next ALT East England meeting. UEA will be sharing their work, and we’re also looking for members to share ideas, debates or what you’ve been doing along related themes (whether issues in gamification or game-based learning such as simulations, virtual and augmented reality, role play, scenarios etc.). ALT North West England Members Group meeting - #ALTNWESIG 2019, 22 May 2019, 12.30 - 16:30

Mobile and Social Media Technologies professional development cMOOC starts 29 April

Mosomelt is a connectivist massive open online course  in which communities of practice work together, share experiences and engage internationally as they integrate and explore mobile social media and learning technologies. The cMOOC framework works to support the creation of personal ePortfolios and development of pedagogical practice.The 2019 version of the #mosomelt cMOOC will relaunch on 29th April – signup to join us for 6 weeks of exploring mobile social media learning technologies and establishing your online professional portfolio/profiles: http://mosomelt.org/signup/. Funding of up to £1,000 for education technology women available

Women & Leadership International is administering a national initiative to support the development of female leaders across the UK’s education technology sector. The campaign is providing women with grants of up to £1,000 to enable participation in a leadership development program. The scholarship funding is provided with the specific intent of providing a powerful and effective development opportunity for education technology sector women; however the funding is strictly limited and has to be allocated prior to the end of May. Call for Proposals - Measuring Excellence in Higher Education: Approaches and their Impact, University of Wolverhampton, 11-13 September 2019

The HEIR conference is an international event attracting delegates from across the HE sector including: students, teachers, researchers, managers, data practitioners and institutional experts, quality professionals, educational developers, policy makers, digital service specialists, consultants, and all who share an interest in the future of education. The 17th APT conference, ‘The Changing Roles of Educators in Higher Education’, is co-hosted by the London School of Economics, University College London and the University of Greenwich. APT 2019 will explore how higher and further educators in 2019 are meeting the challenges of student expectations and how their education should prepare them for their future careers. Educators are asking critical questions as their roles change – How can we help our students to thrive in the face of a buffeting digital maelstrom? Immersive Learning Research Network Conference 2019, London, 24 - 27 June 2019

iLRN invites the ALT community to attend its annual conference. The event, hosted at the University of Westminster (Cavendish Campus), aims to develop the scientific, technical, and applied potential of immersive learning. This year's theme is "Immersive Learning in Urban Environments". There will be special tracks on augmented reality, digital heritage, serious games, wearable technology, medical education, creative learning, gerontology, data visualisation, among other topics. This year keynote is Prof. Mel Slater from University of Barcelona, with invited speakers from Ordnance Survey, BT, Promethean and the University of the West of England.
