Learning Design Workshop - M25

This workshop introduces the Course Design Sprint Framework (CoDesignS)developed at the University of Liverpool to facilitate the design of blended learning activities. The CoDesignS Framework has been developed to support and facilitate scalable Learning Design by combining not only the technologic composition of learning activities but also practical Learning Design guidance in an experimental way.

The pedagogic composition of CoDesignS is based on the Blended Learning Design Framework (BLEnDT©) developed at Imperial College London. The workshop will involve all attendees applying the CoDesignS framework to create a blended learning course, reflecting on the level of knowledge and skills applied. Several case studies from different M25 universities will be presented with the potential to add more case studies from other M25 universities.

All the activities suggested by the CoDesigns Framework are mapped to the AdvanceHE (formerly Higher Education Academy) UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).

Dr Maria Toro-Troconis

Maria has worked in the area of Digital Learning for over 16 years in Higher Education Institutions in the UK, including 10 years as Senior Lecturer and Head of E-learning at the School of Medicine – Imperial College London.

Maria developed the Blended Learning Design Framework (BLEnDT©) at Imperial College London and the CoDesignS Framework at the University of Liverpool. She has produced several publications, including a chapter on the role of Blended Learning in the delivery of World Health Education as part of a systematic review of eLearning for Health Sciences Education led by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Maria was invited to participate in a roundtable discussion led by The Guardian and the Health Education England’s Technology Enhanced Learning Programme in August 2016: How can health and social care employers help staff development?.

Maria was presented with the Rector’s Medal and the Award for Excellence in Supporting the Student Experience in 2014 at Imperial College London. Maria is a Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE.
