This year ALT is represented at the Creative Commons Global Summit for the first time as part of a partnership between ALT and Creative Commons for the OER19 Conference, which took place in April. ALT’s senior staff team, Maren Deepwell and Martin Hawksey attend the Summit as speakers ‘Reporting the critical and global perspectives from OER19’. See here for further details of the event including slides.
Equality is for everyone and we all have a role to ensure that we promote equality within the field of Learning Technology. As part of this webinar Dr Maren Deepwell and Martin Hawksey will explore equality as a challenge for Learning Technology professionals and discuss the new findings from ALT’s Annual Survey. Find out more about this event and register.
This ALT Scotland event will bring practitioners together from across sectors to share their experiences of strategy, practice and policy in learning technology. The day will be hosted by City of Glasgow College (City Campus). This event is free to attend. Visit the event page for a draft agenda and to register.
Come and learn about gamification and discuss best practice at the next ALT East England meeting. UEA will be sharing their work, and we’re also looking for members to share ideas, debates or what you’ve been doing along related themes (whether issues in gamification or game-based learning such as simulations, virtual and augmented reality, role play, scenarios etc.). A call for speakers is open until 29 April 2019. More information on submitting a session and/or registering for this meeting can be found on this event page.
The next ALTNWESIG meeting will take place at the University of Lancaster. Big thanks to Steve Powell and his team for agreeing to feed, water and accommodate us once again. This is a community-led event, created by you and for you. So, if you'd like to suggest a topic, present a case study, lead a discussion, or ask the group to help solve your problem, please contact Alex Spiers (a.spiers@lipa.ac.uk). Places are limited, so please book early via Eventbrite. If you have any dietary requirements please contact s.powell@lancaster.ac.uk
The ALT NI Committee is pleased to announce the date for this year’s Annual Event, 29 May 2019. This year the format will include shared experiences from our members, and abstracts are being accepted until 12 April. Full details are available via the event page.
The training seminar will be an opportunity to learn about state of the art of blended teaching and education and to apply new concepts on the current context of your university. Participants will further generate feedback on the multidimension maturity model for course design as developed by the consortium (micro) and on the institutional strategies needed in order to implement it (meso). You will also learn about the monitor to assess the maturity of blended and online educational practices at universities. The monitor is conceived as a multi-layered instrument with dimensions and indicators that were newly developed or adapted from previously validated instruments. Its goal is to grasp in detail practices and conditions for blended learning. All instruments are piloted across different institutions, programmes and courses. Participants may think of using Erasmus+ staff training budget for the travel costs. https://go.alt.ac.uk/2JBGl7Y
The SHEILA (Supporting Higher Education to Integrate Learning Analytics) project (http://sheilaproject.eu/) recently launched a web tool to assist institutional policy and decision makers to develop learning analytics specific policy and strategy. This tool is a repository of the collective experience of learning analytics deployment in 89 institutions across 26 European countries. It incorporates the perspectives of managers, teachers, students, and learning analytics experts. This interactive tool allows users to download their framework in a PDF file or share the web link with others for collaborative editing or viewing only. https://go.alt.ac.uk/2W7rHw9
“The 41st edition of the conference list covers selected professional development opportunities that primarily focus on the use of technology in educational settings and on teaching, learning, and educational administration” compiled by Clayton Wright (via Stephen Downes) https://go.alt.ac.uk/2HifTgU
